Teamsters offer a variety of annual scholarships to further support the futures of our Teamster families. Applications will be updated and posted every year for applicant requirements and any additional information. Here’s a list of different scholarships that our members’ dependents may apply for
Teamsters Hispanic Caucus Scholarship (ADDED 5/2025)
California Teamsters Hispanic Caucus will award Scholarships to deserving high school seniors graduating this year,
Who are:
A daughter or son of an active Teamster whose dues are current with his/her Local Union;
And are:
Attending or have been accepted by an accredited University, College or Trade School.
Applicants must properly provide:
– Proof of Acceptance to their selected University, College or Trade School;
– Provide a wallet size photo;
– Provide your official High School transcript through the 2024 fall semester;
– Secretary-Treasurer from your Local must sign the bottom of application.

Teamsters Local Union 315 Scholarships (ADDED 5/2025)
Local 315 will be awarding five (5) $2,000 scholarships.
Applications will be available May 16th, 2025 and the deadline to submit an application is July 7th, 2025 by 5:00pm.
Application Eligibility Requirements:
1. Teamster Local 315 members OR their sons and daughters currently enrolled as full-time students (8 units or more) in accredited colleges, or:
2. Sons and daughters of Teamsters Local 315 members who are high school seniors graduating in June of the current year and applying to a two-year or four-year college.

PURPOSE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
THE TEAMSTERS LOCAL 315 SCHOLARSHIP FUND WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1993, BY A VOTE OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF LOCAL 315, FOR THE PURPOSE OF REWARDING BOTH STUDENTS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF TEAMSTERS LOCAL 315 AND THE CHILDREN (SONS, DAUGHTERS, STEP-CHILDREN OR LEGALLY ADOPTED CHILDREN) OF MEMBERS OF TEAMSTERS LOCAL 315, WHO ARE STUDENTS. BOTH COLLEGE STUDENTS AND HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES APPLYING FOR COLLEGE, WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ARE SELECTED ON THE BASIS OF SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT, ACTIVITIES, PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS, FINANCIAL NEED, AND KNOWLEDGE OF ORGANIZED LABOR IN THE U.S.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA:
1. A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, GRADUATING IN JUNE OF CURRENT YEAR AND APPLYING TO A TWO-YEAR OR FOUR-YEAR ACCREDITED COLLEGE.
2. CURRENTLY ENROLLED AS A FULL-TIME (EIGHT UNITS PER QUARTER) STUDENT IN A COMMUNITY, STATE OR U.C. SYSTEM WITH A STRONG GRADE-POINT AVERAGE.
DEFINITIONS:
“CHILDREN” IS DEFINED AS SONS, DAUGHTERS, STEP-CHILDREN OR LEGALLY ADOPTED CHILDREN.
“MEMBER” IS DEFINED AS CONTINUOUS GOOD STANDING FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR PRIOR TO APPLICATION. FOR FURTHER EXPLANATION, SEE REVERSE.
FULLT·IME OFFICERS’ AND AGENTS’ SONS OR DAUGHTERS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM. SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION COMMITTEE MEMBERS MAY NOT SERVE AS COMMITTEE MEMBERS ANY YEAR IN WHICH THEIR SON OR DAUGHTER IS A SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT.
DISBURSEMENT PROCEDURE:
SCHOLARSHIP CHECKS WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE RECIPIENTS AT A MEETING IN AUGUST, UPON RECEIPT OF PROOF THAT THE RECIPIENT IS ENROLLED IN COLLEGE CLASSES, OR IS ENTERING A TWO-YEAR OR FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE IN THE FALL.
MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
1. THE APPLICANT OR THE TEAMSTER-PARENT MUST HAVE BEEN A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING DURING THE TWELVE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE APPLICATION DEADLINE OF JULY 7th. IN ADDITION, THE TEAMSTER PARENT MUST NOT HAVE BEEN A TEAMSTER FULL-TIME OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE DURING THIS PERIOD.
2. IF THE APPLICANT OR TEAMSTER PARENT IS RETIRED OR DECEASED, HE/SHE MUST HAVE BEEN A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING FOR THE TWELVE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS PRECEDING HIS/HER RETIREMENT OR DEATH. FURTHERMORE, THE MEMBER MUST NOT HAVE BEEN A FULL-TIME OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE DURING THE TWELVE MONTH PERIOD STATED ABOVE.
3. IF THE TEAMSTER MEMBER HAS DEPOSITED A WITHDRAWAL CARD DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE APPLICATION DEADLINE, HE/SHE MUST HAVE BEEN A DUES-PAYING MEMBER FOR TWELVE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS PRIOR TO TAKING THE WITHDRAWAL CARD. DURING BOTH PERIODS THE MEMBER MUST NOT HAVE BEEN A FULL-TIME TEAMSTER OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE AND MUST HAVE BEEN A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING. IN CASES OF AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWAL, THE SAME RULES APPLY.
4. IF THE TEAMSTER MEMBER HAS TRANSFERRED FROM ONE TEAMSTER LOCAL UNION TO ANOTHER DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE APPLICATION DEADLINE, BOTH MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE ADDED TOGETHER TO OBTAIN THE REQUIRED TWELVE MONTH PERIOD. IF THERE IS A LAPSE BETWEEN MEMBERSHIPS, THE PROCEDURES OUTLINED IN PARAGRAPH 3 WILL APPLY. THE MEMBER MUST NOT HAVE BEEN AN EMPLOYEE OR FULL-TIME OFFICER OF EITHER LOCAL UNION AND MUST HAVE BEEN A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING DURING THOSE TWELVE MONTHS.
5. A SON OR DAUGHTER OF A LAID-OFF TEAMSTER MEMBER WHO HAS BEEN ISSUED AN HONORABLE WITHDRAWAL CARD DURING THE THREE YEARS PRECEDING THE APPLICATION DEADLINE OF JULY 4th, IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY TO THE PROGRAM. HOWEVER, IF THE MEMBER HAS SECURED EMPLOYMENT NOT COVERED BY A TEAMSTER CONTRACT OR IF DURING THE TWELVE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE LAYOFF, THE MEMBER WAS A TEAMSTER FULL-TIME OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE, OR WAS SUSPENDED FROM LOCAL UNION MEMBERSHIP, THE STUDENT IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY.

EXPIRED Annual JC7 Harry Polland/Bob Morales Scholarship Program
Deadline to submit to your Local Union: May 19, 2025
Joint Council 7 is pleased to announce the Annual Teamsters Joint Council 7 Harry Polland/Bob Morales Scholarship Fund. This program will provide $1,000 to the child of one member in each of the following affiliated Local Unions: 70, 87, 137, 150, 315, 350, 386, 431, 439, 517, 533, 665, 853, 856, 896, 948, 2010, and 2785.
Eligibility
Applicants are eligible for scholarships to attend a college, university, or trade school when they or their parent or legal guardian (proof may be required) is an active member in good standing of one of the previously-listed Local Unions. Elected officials and employees of Teamsters Local Unions and Joint Councils, and their families, are not eligible.
Criteria
Grade point average of 2.0 (based on a 4.0 system) upon high school graduation.
How to Apply
Applicants must complete an application and return it to a Joint Council 7 office or to the office of the member’s Local Union that is affiliated with Joint Council 7 (see list above), along with the following:
1. High school or college transcript through the most recent semester.
2. Resume of school and/or community activities.
3. Two-page handwritten or typed essay on “The Importance of Labor Unions.”
4. Recent photograph of the applicant.

EXPIRED James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund
Deadline: March 1, 2025
The deadline for this year’s James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund (JRHMSF) Academic and Vocational/Training Program scholarship applications was March 1. The fund looks forward to a record number of applications from high school seniors who are the sons, daughters, or financial dependents of Teamster members.
The scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $10,000 for Academic scholarships and $500 to $2,000 for Vocational/Training Program scholarships.

Additionally, the JRH Scholarship Fund, through its administration firm, ISTS, offers tuition discounts to various colleges and universities. The information on the tuition discount program can be found here. (The tuition discount program is independent of the JRHMSF and does not require that a student be a recipient of a JRHMSF award.)
